optimized seti clients yet,

Kahn has the best optimized clients I have seen for the G4
& G5! Go

to look for the one you need (G4 or G5). It looks like he also has a
version for Intel Macs too,
here.
It looks like the thread is continually growing, so, look thru the page
a bit to make sure I haven't missed the latest one.
Once you have the files downloaded and extracted, all you need to do
is, stop Boinc, and drag the app_info.xml and the seti client to the
projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu folder that is located in your
Library>Application Support>BOINC Data folder of your
startup disk.
Now start Boinc back up!
In the Messages tab of Boinc you should see a message like this:
Sun Aug 13 06:58:52 2006|SETI@home|Found app_info.xml; using anonymous
platform
If so, then your done!
